These warm, cold-weather hats are made from a variety of fabrics, including wool, cotton, nylon and leather, and have either a Berber, fleece or fur lining (faux fur is the most common). They get their name from state troopers and trappers that wore the hats in cold climates. This hat usually has ear flaps that keep your ears and neck warm, and the flaps can be conveniently snapped up on top of the hat to get them out of the way. Trooper hats are fashion-forward and are worn by both men and women. They go well with any casual style. A similar hat in a knit is often called a “Peruvian” and will usually have colorful tassels on the end of the ear flaps. Peruvian hats are often lined with Berber or fleece.
