Straw Hats

Not all straw hats can be called a Panama, but all Panamas are straw hats. We also offer fedoras and porkpie hats in straw. Most straw hats are made from raffia, palm leaf, grass or toyo (a type of braided paper), plus other natural materials. Straw hats are well suited for warm weather wear. They breath well, keep the sun off your head, and fit lightly on your head. The light color doesn’t absorb the heat, either. A traditional Panama hat is made from the plaited leaves of the toquilla plant, has a brim, and is of Ecuadorian origin. They often have a shape similar to an outback hat. Well-made Panamas are hand-braided and formed to last a long time.
