Pork Pie Hat

Porkpie is a type of fedora with a short cylindrical crown and flat top, with an indentation that goes all the way around the crown. The brim is narrow and upturned all the way around, rather than being sloped in the front. Often you will see a stingy brim fedora worn with the brim up all the way around, mimicking a porkpie hat. Porkpie is associated with jazz, blues and ska musicians. Many notable men throughout history wore porkpie hats, but the modern resurgence is partially due to Gene Hackman wearing a porkpie while playing Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle in the 1971 film The French Connection (What a great movie!). More recently, Bryan Cranston, who plays Walter White in the series Breaking Bad, wears a porkpie. If you’re looking to make a statement, this is the hat for you!
